My first job after I graduated from high school was working as a line cook at a famous amusement park in Southern California. My supervisor was a bit of a jackass. Let's leave it at that. In every performance review he would use some hackneyed expression to put me down and minimize my pay increase. Here are a few that stick out: "I don't like the cut of your jib", "assume makes an ass out of U and me", and "if you believe that, you are in a cult of one". That last one made me chuckle.
